Our Story
Since 2009, The LOT Project has provided for the basic needs for hundreds of people we lovingly call our guests. With generous financial support and thousands of volunteer hours, we’ve provided a safe place for community, food, and clothing for hundreds of guests. So far, we’ve given away over 58,000 meals and more than 146,000 donated clothing and personal hygiene items to those many would consider the least in our community. We truly value our guests and your support encourages us to keep going. Over the last eight years we have learned that relationships unite us and provide the primary impetus for revitalizing a community.
The LOT Project is very simple. It does not require a lot of creativity or imagination; however, this same simplicity, our culture, and the goals we establish are what make us different. While the numbers are important, we have strategically chosen to focus primarily on the people around us. We believe that the way we treat the most vulnerable among us is the truest reflection of what our community values.
We value:
People: Our desire is that everything we do will speak to a person’s value.
Connections: Life-giving relationships are developed over time, through love.
Vulnerability: This is a beautiful paradox because those who are serving receive as much as those being served.
Investment: We are committed to being generous by investing ourselves through our time, talents, and treasure.
We understand that our platform in the community does not make us superior; it makes us accountable—accountable for using this platform to bring awareness to the injustices surrounding us, and accountable for providing compassion and mercy to those who need it. Our ideas may not be considered revolutionary, but we believe that when we instill hope in the hopeless—when we provide a place for growth, for purpose, and for love—entire communities can be changed.
